Our Methodology

This page explains how AquaVerdia articles are made: how topics are chosen, how facts are checked, which sources we trust, how affiliate links work, and what happens when something is wrong. The editor behind the site is Kaizen.

How topics are chosen

Every article starts from a question aquarists actually ask — in search, in forums, or in messages to us. We pick topics where existing answers are thin, outdated, or contradictory, and where we can add something concrete: a dosage, a timeline, a parameter range, a named product that fits. We do not publish an article just to fill a slot; if a topic cannot be covered well, it is skipped.

How facts are checked

Before anything is published, claims are checked against trusted sources, and numbers are only published when a source supports them. If a fact can’t be verified, it gets cut, not softened. Articles aim for specifics over adjectives: exact dosing ranges, temperature and light ranges, and timelines, rather than vague reassurance.

Sources we trust

We rely on plant databases such as Tropica, manufacturer documentation from brands like Seachem and ADA, and established aquarium references. Forums and social posts are useful for finding questions, but they are never the sole source for a factual claim. Where an article states a parameter or a product specification, the underlying source is one of the above, and current articles link out to the most authoritative source for the claim.

Products and affiliate links

Some articles link to products on Amazon. A product is linked because it fits the article’s topic, not because of what it pays — the affiliate tag is the same on every Amazon link on the site. On current articles, linked products were verified as live and purchasable when the article was written, and any star rating shown is the one recorded at that verification. Prices are never stated in article text because they change. Every page that carries affiliate links also carries a disclosure saying so, in plain language.

What we don’t claim

We do not claim hands-on product testing we have not done, and we do not invent credentials, personal history, or qualifications for the editor. Hero images on current articles are illustrations created for the article, not photographs of our own tanks. Older articles on the site predate some of these standards and are being brought up to them over time.

Corrections

If something on this site is wrong, tell us via the contact page or at [email protected] and we fix it. Corrections are made to the article itself, not buried in a separate note.
