Kaizen

Editor, AquaVerdia

Every guide on AquaVerdia passes through one desk before it reaches you: Kaizen’s.

Kaizen is the editor behind AquaVerdia — the person accountable for what this site publishes. That means every plant profile, setup guide, and troubleshooting article is researched, fact-checked, and held to a single standard: would this actually work in a real tank?

How Kaizen works

  • Parameters first. Light, CO₂, nutrients, and water chemistry are checked against manufacturer data and established references — never guessed.
  • No invented claims. If a fact can’t be verified, it doesn’t ship. Dosing numbers, timelines, and temperatures are concrete, or they’re cut.
  • Real-tank sense. Advice is checked against established planted-aquarium practice and published research before it goes live.
  • Products earn their place. When a guide names a product, it’s because it’s genuinely useful for the job. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on the page, and they never change a recommendation.

Editorial standards

Accuracy first. No copied content. No hype. If we state a fact, we stand behind it — and if we get something wrong, we fix it. That’s what having a named editor is for.

Why a named editor matters

Advice about living things — plants, and the fish and shrimp that share their water — deserves accountability. There’s a name attached to every recommendation on this site, and that name answers for it.

Questions, corrections, or “this didn’t work in my tank” reports are always welcome: contact us or write to [email protected].

How articles are researched

Every article starts from a question aquarists actually ask — in search, in forums, or in messages to us. We pick topics where existing answers are thin, outdated, or contradictory, and where we can add something concrete: a dosage, a timeline, a parameter range, a named product that fits.

Before anything is published, claims are checked against sources we trust: plant databases such as Tropica, manufacturer documentation from brands like Seachem and ADA, and established aquarium references. Numbers are only published when a source supports them. If a fact can’t be verified, it gets cut, not softened.

On current articles, products are recommended only when they fit the article’s topic and were verified as live and purchasable when the article was written; star ratings shown are the ones recorded at that verification. Prices are never stated in article text because they change, and affiliate links are disclosed wherever they appear. Our full process is on the methodology page.

Corrections: if something on this site is wrong, tell us via the contact page and we fix it.
